If your intent is to see photos posted on Instagram from a smartphone, you must act through the official app of the social network for Android and iOS. If, on the other hand, you want to perform this operation from a computer, you must use the Instagram for Windows 10. In this regard, in the following lines, I show you step by step how to proceed.

    Give smartphone and tablet

To see the photos posted on Instagram from smartphones and tablets, start the Instagram that you previously downloaded from the Play Store Android orApp Store of iOS, and log in to your account.

Once this is done, go to the private messages section of Instagram, pressing onairplane icon which you can see in the top right corner of the main menu, locate the person you sent photos to and tap on their nominative, to see the history of messages and multimedia elements.

Now, if you have sent a photo present in the media gallery of your device (framework icon), or if you have shared the photo of another Instagram user, you just have to scroll through the messages of the conversation, in order to identify it. Then tap on its thumbnail to see it in full.

You took a photo via the Instagram camera (camera icon) and then you sent it as a private message? In that case, you can only see it if you have previously selected the option Keep in chat.

You must know that the photos sent to Instagram when the above function is not active are temporary, they are deleted after sending (View only once) or after the second display (Allow to play again): to see them again, you must have previously taken a screenshot of the screen, as well explained in a later chapter of this tutorial.

    From PC

To see photos posted on Instagram by computer, download and launch the Instagram app for Windows 10, which you can find on the Microsoft Store. Then log in to your account and reach the section dedicated to private messages (not available in the web version of Instagram accessible from the browser), by clicking on theairplane icon, which you can see at the top right.

Once this is done, locate the person you sent a photo to and click theirs name, to see the history of conversations and multimedia elements. After that, if you clicked on theframework icon to send a multimedia element from your computer's multimedia gallery (the app Gallery di Windows 10), or if you had shared the photo posted on Instagram by another user, you can see it at any time by scrolling through the chat messages.

If, on the other hand, you had taken a photo using the camera of Instagram (camera icon), you will only be able to find it in the chat if you previously selected the option Allow to play again. So, in these two cases, after identifying the photo you are interested in, click on its thumbnail to view it in its entirety.

If not, if you had chosen the option View only once o Allow to play again you will not find the multimedia element in the chat: this will have been deleted automatically, respectively after sending or after the second view.

In this case, to see it at a later time you must take precautions by making a screenshot of the screen, as explained in the next chapter of the tutorial.

    Save photos posted on Instagram

If you want save photos posted on Instagram to be able to see them later, follow the instructions you find in the next paragraphs. In fact, I am going to explain to you how to use the save tool of Instagram and also how to take a screenshot of the screen (to be able to save the photos that are deleted after sending or after the second view).

    Give smartphone and tablet

To save photos sent to Instagram from smartphones and tablets, start the official app of the service and access the section dedicated to private messages, by pressing onairplane icon located in the main menu of the social network.

Then identify the conversation that took place with the user of your interest and tap his nominative, to see the history of text and multimedia messages. At this point, to save a photo taken via the Instagram camera (camera icon) that you have chosen to keep in the chat (Keep in chat), keep your finger pressed on the element in question and then press the button Save.

Instead, if you had chosen to send a temporary photo, via the option Allow to play again, you can save the media item in your device's default gallery (the Gallery of iOS or, for example, the app Gallery Google for Android, taking a screenshot of the screen. You can also do this to save another user's photo that you sent via Instagram.

That said, to take a screenshot of the screen of your smartphone (or even tablet, if you are on Android), tap on the multimedia element located in the chat and marked by the voice ▶ ︎Photos, then hold down the keys Volume Down e Power, if you are using Android.

Stai using iOSinstead, press the side key + Volume Up (on iPhone X) or the Home button + Power button (on models older than iPhone X). If you have any problems, follow the directions in my guides on how to screenshot the screen on Android and iOS.

But I remind you that, if you had selected the option View only once, the photo will not be visible a second time after sending. In this case, you had to think about saving it first, by pressing onicona della freccia verse il basso, visible in the Instagram camera.

If, on the other hand, you sent a photo from your device's media gallery, you clearly don't need to save it. In fact, you can see it at any time in the app Gallery of iOS or the app Gallery by Google, on Android and iOS.

    From PC

To save the photos sent to Instagram from your computer, start the social network app for Windows 10 and log in to your account. Reach, then, the screen of private messages, by pressing onairplane icon located at the top right (not available in the Web version of Instagram accessible from the browser), then tap on name of the person you sent the photo you want to save to.

Once this is done, hold down the left mouse button on the preview image of the multimedia element and press the button Save in the menu that is shown to you, to save the content in the app Gallery di Windows 10. This operation is valid only if you previously selected the option Keep in chat.

If, on the other hand, it is a photo taken with the camera of Instagram and sent with the option Allow to play again, you can save it via a screenshot, as this is visible a second time.

To carry out this procedure, click on the image you sent, marked with the wording ▶ ︎Photos, then press the keys Win + Stamp. The screenshot of the screen will be visible in the folder Screenshot, present in the path C:> Users> Your name> Pictures. This operation can also be useful to save the photo of another Instagram user that you shared in the social network's private messages.

If, then, you need to edit the screenshot, you can use Paint or another tool like the ones I tell you about in my guide on how to crop an image.

The procedure that I have just indicated to you is not valid if you have sent a temporary photo with the option View only once, as the media will no longer be visible after sending.

In the latter case, to save the photo sent you had to think about it first and use the Instagram save tool (the icon of the down arrow). For more information on this, refer to my tutorial dedicated to the topic.

Finally, I remind you that if, during the sending phase, you selected a photo by pressing on themedia gallery icon, you do not need to save it, as it is in the app Gallery di Windows 10.
